Abstract

The subject of this research is the critical confrontation of the theoretical models of Axel Honneth and the formulation of theory of recognition and Nancy Fraser and his proposal for a theory of redistribution. The two centrl themes for the confrontation of their models will be their foundations, looking for the real experiences in which lay each of these immanent critique of society and, on the other hand, the normative lines they build up from this critique, thinking on which are the goals they intent to reach with their models. This reference to the critical method of immanence and transcendence reveal that the parameter for the analysis is the contemporary reconstruction of a Critical Theory of society as understood by Max Horkheimer, whose theoretical model serves here as a background to evaluate the proposed updates by Honneth and Fraser. The relationship between the social foundations of each of its models with the establishment of a normative order will therefore be the main focus of analysis of this project, which hopes to learn from this critical confrontation, the potential of each of these models for construction of a horizon of criticism of contemporary society that refers to the tradition founded by Horkheimer.
