Abstract

This project is a systematic review that aims to identify and analyze in literature the best evidence available about the practice of endotracheal suction of secretions in critically ill patients intubated or tracheostomized. The search will be conducted in the databases PUBMED, CINAHL, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and LILACS. The studies that will be considered are randomized controlled trials, cohort, case control, non-randomized trials and systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Will be performed an initial analysis of the title and abstract of the studies to select and search the full articles. The studies found will be selected and evaluated critically on the methodological characteristics and the interventions. At the end of the study, will be expected to get the best available evidence, providing the basis for implementation of the practice of endotracheal suction.
