Abstract

The increasing exploitation of natural resources has generated a deterioration of environmental quality, particularly soil degradation through erosion of the phenomena, which constitute one of the most important problems of exhaustion of land resources. Water erosion, generally associated with the use and management of land not suitable, not only affects the soil and water resources, interfering in agriculture by reducing the productivity and quality of agricultural production. Thus, the proposal of an environmental planning emphasizing the rational development, must meet the basic principles of ecological sustainability, economic, social and cultural. In view of the importance of estimates of the erosive process and the relationship of the factor of land use and cover, involving data of vegetation index (NDVI), this research will be developed to the determination of multitemporal vegetation cover factor for the indication of predisposition to the risk of water erosion in a small basin. The characterization and mapping of the index of ground vegetation cover (NDVI) is obtained by processing images of Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing. It is expected the final results of this study that may contribute to the planning and management of environmentally sustainable activities in the area selected. It is also hoped that the results contribute to the intensification of the application of NDVI as an option in the estimates of risk of loss of land in association with USLE. (AU)
