Abstract The main objective of this project is to investigate the discourses about poverty, in an effort to verify how its meanings are created by the different fields of Science and which are the discursive mechanisms that the State puts in functioning in a way to articulate meanings, creating a homogeneous definition of poverty and offering a consensual base for the application of public politics. Our hypothesis is that these political discourses operate from a consensual logic, based on a democratic ideal and a homogeneous conception of social bond, a fact that silences conflicts and tensions and does not allow that the manifestation of differences. The corpus will be constituted by documents that are the backbone of the bases of and regulate some public politics, and also by texts of scientific value that approach poverty from different fields of knowledge (education, sociology, economy, statistics, demography, anthropology etc.), being that the proposed analysis is inscribes in the theoretical-methodological perspective of Discourse Analysis. We aim to contribute with the understanding of the functioning of Science and the State in relation to poverty, elucidating some questions related to the treatment of this as a social problem, thus political(ideological). | |
