Abstract

The pacu, Piaractus mesopotamicus is a native species that has received special attention especially with regard to the intensification of fish production, together with the sustainability both economically and environmentally. To this end, the use of artificial propagation or reproduction induced must be guaranteed with gamete quality and fertilization promoting maximum, subsequently, normal development of embryos and larvae future. The experiment will be conducted at the Center for Development of Technologies for Fish (Centro de Desenvolvimento de Tecnologias para Piscicultura) located in the transition area of the reservoir of Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant located in Santa Helena, Paraná, for a period of ten months (June 2009 to March 2010), where intended to support understanding of the interaction between nutrition breeders fed four levels of crude protein (CP) (18, 24, 30 and 36%), and the same in phosphorus, calcium and caloric, during the process of ovarian maturation when kept in cages, as well as assess the spawning, the quality of oocytes (diameter, morphology, incorporation aminoacids) and the development of their offspring. 224 broodstocks will be distributed in 16 tanks of 5m3-cages, totaling 14 fish per cage, and considered an experimental unit that will be randomized composed of four treatments and four replications.
