Abstract

Several techniques can be used for sound sources localization, but microphone array based ones have an important role. Among these techniques, the beamforming is one which presents big advantages, such as good resolution in medium and high frequencies, common in aeroacoustics problems. Another advantage is that the positioning of the microphones can be done at distance from the region in analysis. However, the conventional method presents some disadvantages when applied in more complex aeroacoustics problems, for example, the difficulty in separating distributed and coherent sound sources. With the objective to improve the conventional methods performance, on this work, the generalized inverse beamforming method will be investigated, and a criteria for the regularization parameter will be proposed. To validate this proposal, simple problems using compact monopole sources, and more complex aeroacoustic problems, such as the noise emission by a low Mach Jet, will be used. Numerical investigations will be used to support the interpretation of the experimental results obtained in a semi-anechoic room. The method will be applied for identification of monopoles and dipoles, simultaneously or not. (AU)
