Abstract

The investigation of the acoustic wave scattering effects along aerodynamic geometries represents a topic of paramount importance in aeroacoustics. Numerical methods which solve boundary integral equations, such as the boundary element method and the equivalent source method, are employed in literature to obtain the solution of scattering problems. However, these methods usually employ formulations which consider a quiescent medium or a uniform flow. In the present work, a study of the problem of acoustic scattering will be performed including non-uniform flows past airfoils under pitching and plunging movements using computational fluid dynamics. The numerical tool which will be applied for the simulations has low dispersion and dissipation characteristics, necessary for wave propagation. The numerical tool solves the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in a non-inertial frame. (AU)
