Abstract

Diet is one of the main factors affecting the profile of rumen microbial, and different roughage: concentrate can dramatically influence the microbial population of the rumen, and the molecular identification of these microorganisms is an innovative and efficient characterization of rumen microbial. The present work aims to characterize the changes in rumen microbiology using molecular biotechnology and correlated to the parameters: pH, ammonia nitrogen, volatile fatty acids, as well as assess the digestibility of diets in animals fed different ratios forage: concentrate, using as a source of forage to cane sugar. Will be used 16 crossbred steers with initial body weight of 280 kg, 24 months of age, cannulated in the rumen. These animals will be distributed in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments counting (forage: concentrate 70:30, 60:40, 40:60 and 20:80 in the diet) and four repetitions (animals) per treatment and source of forage will be cane sugar fresh parsley. The data will be analyzed in the statistical program SAS (2004).
