Abstract The subject of study in this project is the portrait painted by the Italian Paris Bordon, wich is kept at the Art Museum of São Paulo (Assis Chateaubriand). The Museum identifies the portrait intitled by: "Retrato de Alvise Contarini". and point to it as being painted in any time between 1525 to 1550. The portrait is inserted in the Venezian Renaissance and during a long time, many experts recognized the portrait as being painted by Tiziano. Within its features, the light and shadows contrasts over the sitter's image and a deep sentimental atmosphere stands out. Between the steticals elements, there is an architetural enviroment where the sitting is inserted, and also an old clock table. The sitter's identity kept unknow even when the Museum had accept the sugestion of it being a Alvise Contarini portrait. This project suggest an artistic lifetime study of Paris Bordon, as well the historic and artistic enviroment the portrait is inserted. Through this research, might be possible to enlarge the understanding of this portrait. (AU) | |
