Abstract

Information from health surveys allow population-based analysis of different dimensions of health status and associated with variables demographic, socioeconomic and lifestyle. One of the variables collected in these surveys is self-rated health, an important indicator of the subjective individual and collective health. The congruence of this indicator with the objective indices of health has been questioned by some authors. This research aims to analyze the association between self-rated health with demographic, socioeconomic and health-related behaviors, and matching self-evaluation with objective indicators of health status, including morbidity and use of health services in population aged 60 and over. Will use data from the Household Survey of Health conducted in the city of Campinas, in 2008-2009, which is a cross-sectional study of population-based cluster sampling in two stages. Information was obtained through interviews conducted directly with the person drawn. Data analysis will take into account the weights for the sample design and is made using the software STATA version 11. Will be tested associations of several variables with self-rated health and prevalence estimates will be made and calculated the adjusted prevalence ratios using hierarchical model.
