Abstract

The monitoring and in situ measurement of erosion processes are lengthy and expensive. Thus, during the last decades several models have been developed for predicting soil erosion for simulating the impact of soil loss on agricultural productivity, providing faster to analyze the data. Among these models have the WEPP model (Water Erosion Prediction Project), which requires as input a wide range of climatic data. To obtain these data, the historical observations are often short, incomplete, or simply not available. So no need to synthetically simulate weather sequences that preserve the statistical average and variations that are observed in historical data. It then becomes necessary to use a simulation model climate and climate simulation model used by the WEPP model is CLIGEN. Therefore, this project aims to calibrate and validate the simulation model to support CLIGEN climate prediction model of soil erosion WEPP particularly for the city of São Carlos-SP. The model has been evaluated CLIGEN in Brazil and, in general, this model showed good performance in generating climatic elements.
