Abstract

The project has the assumption to guide research on maritime and inland waterway transport modal and its importance to the national development. However, our clipping highlights the exports of manufactured goods from the port of São Sebastião, SP, especially for products with high added value (such as vehicles). During the work, matters dealing with the importance of movement and spatial interactions, which generate movement necessary to development, and particular importance of waterway shipping, a brief history of this type of transportation in São Paulo state, particularly to the port of São Sebastião and the long-haul routes and coastal traffic using this port as a destination and as a source. Also highlighted will be given to exports of manufactured products that use the port of São Sebastião and finally, as proposed, we evaluate the importance of the port as an alternative for certain products, the port of Santos, which is found strangled and also examines the current situation of transport development plans in the State of São Paulo and the expansion of the port of São Sebastião.
