Abstract

The research project proposes a revision of the design process in architecture, considering the use of digital media, and using the concept of Cibersemiotics as defined by Sören Brier, which in turn links two areas of knowledge: the Semiotics of Charles S. Peirce and Second Order Cybernetics. This critical review of the process of design in architecture has at its starting hypothesis that the demands of professional architects and designers are now requiring a different attitude regarding the treatment of observation, representation and performance in architecture and urbanism. For this, the research presents a conceptual scope that covers the main theoretical framework that deal with Semiotics, Cybernetics and Second Order Cibersemiotics and proposes experiences extending their limits to the practice of architecture and urbanism. This proposal is directly linked to the research project Performance em Arquitetura: revisão do processo de projeto na cultura digital, approved in accordance with the edict MCT / CNPq / MEC / CAPES process 400877/2010-4 No. 02/2010, related to the researchgroup Nomads.usp.
