Abstract

The main aim of this research is to examine the use of Visual Programming data in Information Modeling platforms in order to identify the possibilities and limits of the use of multi-agent data, such as social, cultural, environmental and productive in the process of design in architecture. The research is structured on taxonomy which distinguishes types of parametric modeling based on the way that support interaction. This classification will be reviewed under the perspective of the Cybernetic theory, which deals with the systems of organization, in order to establish important intersections and direct links between theory and practice that may clarify how agents should be taken into consideration in the architecture project. We initiate from Information Modeling systems instead of CAD systems (Computer Aided Design) due the interest lies not only in representation of the model and its formal complexity. The Design flows that incorporate and operate with data from other disciplines are more suited to adapt and respond to contemporary issues. The relevance of this research lies in the potential of technological innovation to establish methods and reflections which aid in expanding the design process and architectural production. Through the alliance of computational strategies and systemic theories that provide procedures for solving complex problems, it is possible to review the design process that considers social, environmental and productive aspects. This research is part of the Nomads.usp, Centre of Interactive Living Studies, Institute of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo, IAU-USP. (AU)
