Abstract

The project aims to contribute to the analysis of the historical process of democratization of communication, with the object of this reality checker Community Radio Heliopolis, located on the outskirts of Sao Paulo. From 1997 to 2008 members of the association of neighborhood residents and activists of social movements for democratization that were part of this group sought ways to regularize the radio, highlighting the difficulties in the realization of the process of democratization of communication. Thus, the study focused around the demands of democratization on the part of social movements is inserted in a context of constant struggle for power and ownership of the media.
