Abstract

The cellular prion protein, or PrPc, became known for being the normal cellular isoform of PrPSc, a protein involved in several neurodegenerative diseases. PrPc is a surface cell molecule that initiates signaling pathways and mediate physiological process, like protection against apoptosis, cell proliferation and adhesion. In this project we will study the relationship between insulin and PrPc. (AU)
