Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship of the work of a manager with the performance of small business. As specific objectives, the study seeks to identify in practice the activities of the leader in driving the small business and the main factors related to their work that affect its performance. Due to increased competitiveness and dynamism that are labor organizations, in recent years there has been a substantial increase in concern about measuring and ensuring a high standard of performance in companies. In the literature of small businesses already is a consensus today that the administrator influences their performance, so this work will address the topic under the perspective of the job description of the administrator. To the achievement of the objective of the research will be applied questionnaires, whose variables will be based on the Balanced Scorecard adapted to small enterprises, a group of managers of small businesses of the metal-mechanic in the city of Araraquara and São Carlos in order to sort in which Performance levels are the same. Companies in the sample will be chosen as a criterion with the minimum working set. This will be done interviews to identify, by addressing the roles of Mintzberg, the main activities undertaken by the leaders, see what the emphasis of them in their daily lives and how they understand the influence of the same performance. The data will undergo content analysis and seek to relate qualitatively the variables work of the leader of small business and organizational performance. With that you expect to get a more detailed description of the work of the administrator from activities that are related to high-performance small business.
