Abstract

Introduction: Speech is a linear process developed through a chain of temporal events, which requires smooth transitions in different linguistic levels. Purpose: Verify the presence of correlation between temporal parameters of speech and oral reading in people who stutter and who do not stutter. Method: 30 participants (15 who stutter and 15 who do not stutter), between the age of 17 and 59 years old, from both gender, living in São Paulo zone. The participants will undergo an initial interview and a speech-language and hearing assessment. The analysis of temporal prosodic aspects of prosody will be done through: pause duration (ms), number of produced syllables, elocution total time, elocution rate, articulation time and articulation rate. Acoustic measures of duration will be done by PRAAT, 4.2. The total time of oral reading of isolated items and text (words read per minute - wrpm) and accuracy (number of correct words read per minute - wcrpm) will be measured and reading rate will be calculated. Results: Results will be obtained through analysis of variables: total dysfluencies on spontaneous speech and oral reading, mapping of dysfluencies on speech and oral reading, speech rate on spontaneous speech and oral reading, accuracy on oral reading and prosodic aspects on spontaneous speech and oral reading.
