Abstract

Background: audiological evaluation of individuals with Down syndrome. Objective: To characterize the peripheral auditory pathway of individuals with Down syndrome. Methodology: 20 individuals with Down syndrome, between 7 and 15 years-old, both genders, will be evaluate. Procedures: anamnesis, otoscopy, tympanometry with ipsilateral and contralateral acoustic reflex, pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, High Frequencies audiometry. The project in question will be held parallel to two other projects with complementary objectives (characterization of the peripheral auditory pathway by otoacoustic emissions and characterization of central auditory pathways in individuals with Down's syndrome).
