Abstract

Oral counting will be taught to pre-scholars through procedure of matching to sample. The equivalence relations between number and quantity will be taught to both groups, Controlling (CG) and Experimental Group (EG), whereas the oral counting will be taught just to EG. Printed (numbers, words and figures) and auditory (dictation) stimuli and will be used in training. Furthermore, both groups' subjects will be submitted to different conditions of testing in order to evaluate the effects of the oral counting. A game of domino will be used for the generalization phase. The results obtained will be analyzed, compared and discussed in order to generate evidences aiming a possible incorporation of counting to the pre-arithmetic skills required by the numeric conceptual model.
