Abstract

We intend to investigate the control of the dynamics of the classical driven Morse oscillator. This system stands for a heteronuclear diatomic molecule under the action of a laser field. The classical Morse model presents chaotic behaviour associated to the anarmonicity of the potential well and to the coupling between the permanent dipole moment of the molecule with the electric field of the laser. The goal is to control the selective vibrational excitation and the dissociation by optimizing the time-dependent external fields. Based on the examination of the optimized field and on the system dynamics, we intend to understand the mechanisms related to the control of vibrational excitation and molecular dissociation.
