Abstract

In a previous study conducted by the researcher, the instrument "Diabetes Empowerment Scale (DES), which is a measure of diabetes-related psychosocial self-efficacy, was culturally adapted, originated the instrument "Questionário de Atitudes em Diabetes" (QAD). The instrument consists of 28 items divided into 3 (three) sub-scales: Managing the Psychosocial Aspects, Assessing Dissatisfaction and Readiness To Change, and Setting and Achieving Diabetes. The questions are Likert-type and have 5 (five) answer options varying from totally agree to totally disagree. This study aims to validate the instrument AQD in order to make it available to professionals interested in evaluating self-efficacy of individuals with diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2. Validation will consist of analysis of psychometric properties and reliability of the instrument. The AQD will be applied to 126 individuals with diabetes mellitus for the analysis of content validity, convergence, discriminant and factorial.
