Abstract

The use of chemicals to treat diseases in farmed fish is common worldwide, but their indiscriminate use can harm the animals treatment targets, including the environment and nontarget organisms, as the aquaculture production systems are embedded within aquatic ecosystems. Thus, it is necessary to know the characteristics of the products being used and develop methodologies to control diseases of aquatic organisms, focusing on the ecotoxicology of the active ingredient, control efficacy and adverse biochemical, physiological and morphological. Thus, this research project aims to: determine the acute toxicity (EC(I)50;48h) of the antibiotic azithromycin, the antiparasitic metronidazole and antifungal ketoconazole for the snail (Pomacea canaliculata), to determine the acute toxicity (LC(I )50;48h) of the antibiotic azithromycin, the antiparasitic metronidazole and antifungal ketoconazole for the thick bush fish (Hyphessobrycon eques) and evaluate the water quality variables during the toxicity tests to the snail and fish.
