Abstract

With this project, the authors intend to contribute to studies related to uncertainty in the production of space in the town of Bauru, Sao Paulo ,médium sized city, by analysis of blends closed horizontal and social impact resulting from the installation of these condominiums. The rapid economic and urban growth in the last two decades has resulted in problems in the city of Bauru, previously recorded only in the metropolis. There was an increase in population density and hence in the demand for new stocks, the social relations between different segments decreased, which is attributed to fear and mistrust. Assuming that the architecture and urbanism can be exclusionary, the physical space of the housing is designed with the goal of promoting distance between the occupant and its surroundings, but this has not been enough to guarantee security to its residents, we look for installation of security equipment with increasing frequency, showing the expansion of this market. This composition between architectural elements and safety equipment is identified as a aesthetics of security, which will be searched based on the approach proposed by Caldeira (2000), whereas, however, differences between metropolitan and realities to those encountered in medium-sized cities, as Bauru.
