Abstract

Two experiments will be conducted, the first in the initial fase (1 to 21 days of age) and the other at the growth fase (22 to 42 days of age). The animals will be 3200 Cobb broiles. The aim is to evaluate, chest (Pectoralis major) morphology, composition and quality, using diets with different levels of digestible lisine and metionine + cistine. Performance data will be analyzed (weight, feed intake and food conversion) as well as carcass yield and parts, measurements of thickness, width and length of muscle fibers will be made, the composition (moisture, fat, protein and ash) and quality (pH, weight loss during cooking and shear force) of meat from the pectoral muscle will also be evaluated. Variance analyses will be made for all variables and in case of statistical significance, regression analyses will be made considering the digestible lisine and metionine + cistine levels as independent variables. The estimations for the best level of lysine will be made using the LRP and/or the quadratic polinome. Duncan test at 5% will be used to verify the differences among the mean values. (AU)
