This research project refers to the experimental investigation of the fluid-structure interaction in the radial diffuser flow. We propose modifying an existent experimental setup in order to analyze the flow through a radial diffuser in two configurations: a radial diffuser with static frontal disk, in order to validate the experimental setup, and with a moving frontal disk to study the fluid-strucute interaction. The flow will be characterized by measuring the distance between disks, by the pressure on the frontal disk surface, and by the Reynolds number of the flow. Reynolds numbers in the range of 1.0000 to 10.000, which involves laminar and turbulent flows, will be studied in geometries with diameter ratio, which is the ratio between the diameter of the orifice of the back disk and the diameter of the frontal disk, equal to 1,2.
