Abstract

The proposal delineated through this project is the study of the organization of the political field, the relations of power and the routinization of political practices undertaken by the elite in Mato Grosso, between the years of 1889 and 1917. It deals with the understanding of constitutive aspects of the local political culture and the forms of manifestation of the political modus vivendi in the State from the passage of the monarchical regime to the federative one. The present study will allow the understanding of the reconstruction process and the forms of political relation established in Mato Grosso in the beginning of the republican period, as well as the understating of multiple aspects that composed the context in which occurred successive forcibly power takeovers, by groups who intended to impose themselves at any cost and the reaction of the ones who judged to be jettisoned of the power. In this way, the analysis proposed will enable the understanding of the specificities of the consolidation and articulation of the structures of power in Mato Grosso, during part of the period that comprehends the First Republic.
