Abstract

Extended periods of persistent herbicides cause significant impacts, both environmental and agricultural, since they affect the subsequent crops or rotation system, cause damage to crop rotated. In Brazil, there are herbicides that have this problem, such as imazaquin. In this context, comes the concept of phytoremediation, which refers to the treatment of polluted areas through the use of plants as decontaminator agent. Thus, to find species that have potential for phytoremediation and understand the physiological mechanisms that confer this characteristic is essential for management alternatives to be created and better planned besides improving existing treatments. The objective will be to determine the physiological basis for the differential response that species Cajanus cajan, Canavalia ensiformis, Mucuna Mucuna cinerea and aterrima present when exposed to soil contaminated with imazaquin for the analysis of their activities Phytoremediator.
