Abstract

High intensity rains are among the greatest causes of material and human losses in urban environment. The possibility of prediction of its intensity, duration and frequency are important elements in city management, especially that refers to sizing and mantenance of rain flow strucutures (galleries, culverts, etc.). This project will generate the IDF curve to Presidente Prudente - SP, Brazil, considering the 1973-2009 period, considering that the current curve is from 1972-1979 period, not reflecting the current frequency regimen of extremes events ocurrences. It will be analysed the pluviograms from 1973-2009 period, available at the meteorological station of the FCT/UNESP. From this data it will be generated the IDF curves, acoordingly the methodology described in the project.
