Abstract

The annual damage caused by the cattle tick Boophilus microplus in Brazil could reach $ 1 billion. Due to progressive resistance of cattle ticks to acaricides and high development costs of new drugs, is suggested as an alternative technique the drug delivery method to increase the efficiency of acaricides have ever used, in particular the amtiraz and fluazuron. Besides the possibility of increased efficiency, the nanocarriers may act as increases stability agent and decreases toxicity. Additional, in this work the two active compounds (amitraz and fluazuron) will be used together to improve the action against cattle tick. This research project aims the encapsulation of biomolecules with two distinct actions, amitraz (any resistance) and fluazuron (without resistance) motivated by its excellent acaricides effects. Assets will be encapsulated in micro/nano poly(¼-caprolactone) (PCL) using the simple techniques of nanoemulsion oil/water and nanoprecipitation. After the synthesis of micro/nanoparticles will be carry out physical-chemical , encapsulation efficiency and in-vitro tests and in-vivo on the tick B. microplus. Research on the scientific and patent literature revealed the absence of work involving the encapsulation of amitraz and fluazuron, as alone as join in polymeric micro/nanoparticles for topical application, motivating our group the achievement of this research project.
