Abstract

The main intention of this research is to investigate the theoretical production, in particular the one dedicated to Musical Analysis of the teacher, musicologist and composer Furio Franceschini (1880 - 1976), aiming to draw a profile on the style of analysis and principles practiced in the period of his production . His analytical thinking is very important in the first part of the 20th century, having spent much of his life to teaching and formed an important generation of musicians, besides the fact of having structured a course in Musical Analysis of great relevance, talking about fundamental aspects of analysis, such as: form, contrapuntal procedures, rhythm and harmony. Through a survey of his writings and publications is intended to verify the type of approach that Franceschini had by analyzing a piece and repertoire for which he had a large attention. Establishing an analytical parallel with the production of other relevant theorists of 20th century, it will be possible to distinguish features of the method of approach made by Franceschini. Then, after the end of the regular schedule, is expected to draw a profile of Furio Franceschini primarily as a teacher and musicologist, since most of their texts are didactic in nature (some of then talking about interpretative aspects through the analysis), besides bringing to light texts of a musician of great importance, which can still serve a greater understanding of analytical aspects of music.
