Abstract The viruses diseases are one of the main constraint in the health of orchids production, since they promote considerable damage to the commercial value, as directly affects its productivity and aesthetics. In terms of incidence surveys, variability and characterization of the pathogen, there are few studies related to major viruses that occur in this ornamental plant in the Brazilian context. Considering this issue, this study aims to evaluate samples of different orchids genera from several regions of São Paulo in order to make a survey of infecting viruses, and thus to establish the most important one. This survey will be carried out by serological tests (ELISA) and molecular (RT-PCR) for detection of viruses. Electron microscopy will also be used to complement the diagnosis. Done the survey, the most frequent virus will be established, and a study of its symptoms within the same genus and between orchids genera will be lead. Allied to this, cloning and sequencing will be performed to characterize the virus and establish a genetic variability study. (AU) | |
