Abstract

Within the ages 0 and 12 months old a person acquires most of the behavior skills needed for the subsequent individual's development. This data refers to the first years of a baby that was exposed to social/cultural changes and currently attends Early Education centers. The objective of this particular research is to assess the development of children within the ages of 4 and 12 months old that attend an Early Education center in Marilia city. The children will be assessed in the areas of motor development, self-care, cognition, language and social development as well. The children between the ages 4 and 12 months will be located at the day cares number 1 and 2 from "Escola Municipal de Educacao Infantil and Creche Saci Perere" of Marilia Unified School District (SME). After SME has given authorization, the children will be exposed to situations that will allow us to determine the presence or not of the behaviors showed on the "Inventario Portage Operacionalizado" assessment protocol. The data collection and observation will be done during the regular routine schedule at the daycare to make the children as comfortable as possible. The observations will be done by the researcher and one collaborator in order to assure their dignity and objectivity. The data will be collected and analyzed both statistically and descriptively in order to verify the areas of development within the group age. (AU)
