Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand the relationship between drug consumption and trafic with drug related crime and other crimes. The change in penalties induces by the Law No. 11,343, from 2006, will be explored in a discontinuity regression, which identifies the relation between drug and crime, usually contaminated by endogeneity. The database covers individuals from 18 to 25 years old who have been indiciated for different crimes, and also mortality data and hospital admissions for drug abuse records in Datasus. (AU)
