Abstract

Currently in Brazil, the quantity and quality of new types of waste disposed of without criteria in urban areas, has been responsible for considerable impacts on public health and the environment, including, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), whose characteristics are complex because they have substances in their composition of high value-added and other health hazards which require different treatment of household waste. On 02/08/2010, was sanctioned to the National Solid Wastes (Law no12.305) already regulated on 12/23/2010 (Decree n0 7404), establishing, among other guidelines, the system of reverse logistics, where, manufacturers, importers, distributors, traders and consumers will undertake in return, certain types of waste, including the WEEE for proper treatment and disposal. Given the above, the research proposal, presented here, aims to generally diagnose the current situation of electronic waste generated in the Faculdade de Engenharia , Campus Guaratinguetá, FEG / UNESP, to provide for operation and management of these waste, based on sustainability, economic losses and minimizing environmental impacts and public health related to the flow and the improper disposal of such waste.
