Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the clinical manifestations of the compulsion to repeat, main concept in Sigmund Freud's works, under two focuses: in its relation to resistance and its incidence in addiction. It is a theoretical research under the psychoanalytic method used to highlight a historical-critical approach to Freud's works. Three categories selected through previous research will be used for analysis: 1. Identification of the central and peripheral themes; 2. Identification of contradictions, forgetfulness, argumentative gaps, repetition and intertextual elements; 3. Identification and contextualization of the different uses of the concept of compulsion to repeat acquires in every work selected for this research. (AU)
