Abstract

Parenting practices are behaviors emitted by parents to educate, socialize and control the behavior of their children. The literature points to the existence of positive and negative parenting practices that are used from when the child is still a baby, influencing child development. Whereas many variables can influence these practices, this project aims to investigate factors related to mental health of 80 mothers of babies aged between six and 12 months, such as anxiety, depression and stress. To this end, evaluation tools are offered: Parenting Styles Inventory of Mothers of Infants (IEPMB), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Trait Anxiety Inventory-State (STAI) and Stress Symptoms Inventory for Adults Lipp (SSI). Studies that promote the increased use of positive parenting practices and decrease the negative may help in proper development of children. (AU)
