Abstract

We aimed to investigate the productive use of electricity for impoverished segments of the population of the city, focusing on the lower circuit theory of urban economics. We chose this technological variable of urbanization in order to discuss features of underdevelopment linked to successive upgrades of the city. In general, the increase in electricity production is stimulated by the circuit's top economy, but also result from this stimulus means less capitalized labor and low technology. Considering the urban dynamics in its entirety, access to power is hoarded by income, which in turn inhibits the acquisition and wider use of electrical equipment, while promoting strong improvisation in the final consumption of energy and productive the circuits below. Thus, we will investigate how such use, while differentiating the production in the periphery is also conditioned by the factors of concentration and geographic dispersion. The income generated by the divisions of labor "of small traders and "self employed" on matters that seem to compose the remaining official statistics, public politics and direct control of companies in the macro circuit power, precisely those responsible for production, distribution and marketing of energy. We will discuss the socio-spatial training in Brazil for the production and consumption of energy and, as appropriate, reflect on the structure and reproduction of the lower circuit in Sao Paulo, subsystem created by the urbanization of the poor world.
