Abstract

Starting from an ethographic description on the processes through which constitute oneselves and operate leaders of guarani-kaiowa communities of Mato Grosso do Sul, we intend to undertake a discussion about the place of tupi-guarani chieftainship, particularly, and amerindian, in general, in the comprehensive overview offered for the Political Anthropology. Additionally, the understanding of the cosmopolitics practiced by this indigenous group allows, among other points, better determinate the relations between shamanism and politics in Lowland South America.
