Abstract

Artificial acrylic resin teeth are widely used in removable partial and complete dentures. Although these teeth chemically bonding to denture base resins, the fracture or debonding is a common clinical occurrence. Shear bond strength between artificial teeth and denture base resins can be influenced by the composition of these materials, processing variables, and immersion of the denture in chemical solutions, procedure indicated for denture hygiene and prevention of denture stomatitis. The purpose of this study will be evaluating the effect of immersion in desinfectants solutions (chlorhexidine 2%, sodium hypochlorite 1% and sodium perborate - Corega Tabs) on the shear bond strength between two types of artificial teeth (Biotone e Biotone IPN, Dentsply Ind. e Com., Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil) and a denture base resin (Lucitone 550- Dentsply Ind. e Com., Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil), simulating a 180-day period. Eighty specimens will be produced, and divided into 8 groups (n=10): GB0 (Group Biotone distilled water - control); GBchl (Group Biotone chlorhexidine); GBhyp (Group Biotone hypochlorite), GBper (Group Biotone perborate); GI0 (Group Biotone IPN distilled water - control); GIchl (Group Biotone IPN chlorhexidine); GIhyp (Group Biotone IPN hypochlorite); GIper (Grupo Biotone IPN perborate). Shear strength tests (MPa) will be performed with a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min until fracture. Statistical analysis of the results will be carried out considering ±=.05.
