External validation of brazilian nomogram for prediction non-organ confined prostate cancer - FMUSP

Abstract

Objectives: (a) the externally validate nomograms that combine Crippa et al Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, percentage of positive prostate biopsy fragments (PFPB) and Gleason score of prostate biopsy for predicting organ confined disease (OCD), in radical prostatectomies performed between 1988 and 2002, population in a contemporary tertiary education institution of public assistance, (b) Re-derive the variables and adjust them to produce two nomograms for predicting DOC and seminal vesicle invasion (SVI) . Method: The accuracy (discrimination and calibration) of nomograms Crippa et al will be examined in 1002 patients undergoing radical retropubic prostatectomy (RRP) between 2005 and 2010 at the University of São Paulo. ROC curves with their respective areas under the curve (AUC) and Brier scores will be used to quantify the discriminative properties of the predictions of nomograms to DOC Crippa et al. Loess calibration graphs will be used to visually express the relationship between the probabilities predicted and observed outcome rates. As a result, rederivação variables including PSA, PFPB, Gleason score of prostate biopsy and clinical stage will be held for the outcomes DOC and IVS. Final logistic regression models generated the prediction nomograms for DOC and IVS (confidence intervals 95% in 1000 bootstrap samples). The validation procedures described above will be applied in-house validation of nomograms USP.
