One of the problems faced by large cities in Brazil and already even within the medium-size refers to the issue of urban mobility. The dependence on car use have had major impact on traffic flows. Associated with this problem, the current policies on growth and urban development have tended to use more sustainable means of transport (such as the way on foot, bicycle and public transport). As a consequence of indiscriminate use of cars in urban areas has the following problems: increased congestion, energy consumption in the transportation sector and the increase in noise and emissions of toxic gases. This work aims to conduct a diagnosis of bicycle users in one of the main roads of the city of Bauru (a stretch at Avenida Duque de Caxias - important road in town) and propose some guidelines that can facilitate the mobility and accessibility for users road bike this axis. This research aims to: i) spread between the future planners the importance of the concept of sustainable urban mobility and the use of non-motorized modes of transport more sustainable and to improve the quality of life, ii) obtaining a diagnosis on the use of Avenida Duque de Caxias by users of bicycles, iii) identify and quantify the volume of traffic (modal split) onto the road studied iv) continue to build a database that can eventually be used for other purposes by local government (a Since the city does not have such information) and v) to propose some guidelines that can facilitate the mobility and accessibility of bicycle users in the road axis.
