Abstract

The control of the coffee leaf miner Leucoptera coffeella (Leucoptera:Lyonetiidae) is made mainly through high-volume foliar spraying, however, the application of ultra-low volume (ULV) comes as a promising alternative for use at Integrated Pest Management on coffee crop, mainly to reduce the water volume applied and increase operational performance. This research aims studying the quality of ULV application of insecticides with different concentrations of the adjuvant in tank mix for control of coffee leaf miner. The actions planed to the project are to evaluate the spreading of droplets according to the insecticide spray adjuvant in different concentrations and surfaces (natural and artificial) to evaluate deposition and drift of droplets generated by a pneumatic sprayer, with adjuvant at different concentrations on the leaves in different positions of coffee plant at the field, and to evaluate the mortality of the insect in laboratory and field comparing conventional and ultra-low volume. It is believed to the results obtained detailed information of the quality of application of pesticides on coffee plantations and that the proposed control method been as efficient as conventional.
