Abstract

During Franco's dictatorship was no official encouragement to the Spanish nationalism. Thus, the government tried to stifle the regionalism present in the Spanish experience. In the case of Catalonia, and especially in football, FC Barcelona played the Catalan nationalism as a form of resistance to General Franco. The history of over one hundred years of the club is confused to some extent, the history of Catalonia in Spain today. During Franco Barca was a means of Catalan national affirmation in opposition to Franco. The club was like a space of sociability where the Catalan language could express himself without being restrained by the dictatorship, and was a "vehicle of a popular nationalist opposition in Catalonia." The experience of Barcelona, led to the creation, between 1968 to 1978, the phrase: more than club. The objective of this project is to study the construction of the phrase and its readings, by FC Barcelona, from the journal El Mundo Deportivo, during the presidency of the club for Narcís Carreras (1968-1969), the years 1974 and 1999.
