Abstract

The project aims to evaluate the relation between economic growth and the adoption of clean technologies. Initially, an analysis will be made to determine the GDP growth of many countries. Data on physical capital and human capital will be analyzed to determine their contribution to income. With such information it will be possible to obtain measures of productivity, applying the Growth Accounting and Development Accounting techniques (Weil, 2009). Furthermore, data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will be analyzed. With the methodology proposed by Grossman (1994) it will be possible to establish, also for many countries, a relation between GDP and levels of pollution known as Environmental Kuznets Curve. The influence of the adoption of clean technologies in the emission trajectories will also be studied. Finally, the data will be analyzed in order to establish a relation between the adoption of clean technologies and productivity, which will allow for the establishment of a relation between clean technologies and GDP growth. Thus, it will also be possible to verify the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve applied to the GHG.
