Abstract

After the end of the Cold War, a rearrangement of the world economy was settled , with the emergence of economic blocs, as a way to perform the insertion of the safest countries in the globalized world, as was the case of the consolidation of Mercosur. Thus, to promote infrastructure integration has become a fundamental strategy for the consolidation of territorial integration within the blocks. In this sense, at the beginning of the 21st century, it was developed a Plan of Action for the Integration of Regional Infrastructure in South America (IIRSA), which represents an evolution as an attempt to consolidate the integration between various countries of South America, and thus expand trade flows between Brazil and other Mercosur countries. So when making investments in transportation infrastructure the territory is given one of the "general conditions of production" critical to the reproduction of capital and the generation of "internal multiplier effect", since these investments are not restricted to border areas, encouraging the consolidation of spatial interactions between Brazilian federal units that should receive investment and therefore between Brazil and other Mercosur countries.
