Abstract

In the 21st century, capital is going through a renewed stage of accumulation by dispossession of the natural common goods which the countries of the "global South" have; based on three main strategies: i) production of agro-commodities, ii) mineral and energy projects, iii) real estate/tourist enterprise and land grabbing. In this paper we analyze the processes and transformations that capital at its stage of accumulation by dispossession creates in rural territories of South-American countries. However, in order to acquire a better understanding of the local and regional processes, it is necessary to open a dialog with the productive, political and developmental processes from the perspective of the global South, once these countries share historical processes of political, economic and social exclusion. We propose to analyze these processes comparatively in countries which witness the current ways of capitalist expansion of the global South (South America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia), which demonstrate profound transformations in their territories. We intend to: i) Delve into the documentary revision of the south-south relationships. ii) Conduct fieldwork in the rural communities of these countries. iii) Discuss the theoretical and methodological advances and the preliminary findings of the research with the ISS working team. iv) Write two articles to be published and participate in scientific meetings with the main findings. v) Contribute to the theoretical and methodological discussion about the topic with teachers, researchers, students of the Núcleo de Estudos, Pesquisas e Projetos de Reforma Agraria- NERA, and the postgraduate Program of Geography FCT/UNESP. vi) Strengthen bonds of cooperation between institutions and workgroups. This paper is divided into six parts: introduction, justification, objectives, methodology, information systematization and schedule. (AU)
