Abstract

There are doubts about the effectiveness of different concentrations, protocols and equipment suitable for outpatient dental bleaching. It is intended to study the effectiveness of a bleaching agent comprising hydrogen peroxide containing 15% titanium oxide as a semiconductor doped with nitrogen. Will be analyzed 100 pieces of bovine incisors were randomly divided into 10 experimental groups (n = 10), previously stained by immersion in infusion of black tea (Mate Leo - Brazil), for 24 hours. Groups G1 to G4 will receive photo-bleaching agent and catalyst, the G8 group of the G5 will only receive the bleaching agent. Group 9 (positive control) will receive the treatment recommended by the manufacturer and the group 10 (negative control) did not receive bleaching. Will be held three sequences of gel application, the experimental time of 4 (G1 and G5), 8 (G2 and G6), 12 (G3 and G7) and 16 (G4 and G8) simulations in 3 minutes at intervals of 7 days between them. The effectiveness of bleaching will be analyzed by spectrophotometry (Vita Easyshade) and computer processing of digital images (ScanWhite). The color records will be made prior to staining (M1) at the beginning and after each session (M2-M7) The longevity of the whitening will be assayed at 7 (M5), 30 (M6) and 180 days after treatment (M7). The effect of contact time and forms of activation is determined by the values of ”E, ”L *, ”a * and ”b * (CIELab). The results are statistically treated in order to establish the most efficient protocol, the curve of product effectiveness, longevity of results and reproducibility of methods.
