Abstract

The research project will be developed in a Portuguese village named Tourém, on the border between Spain and Portugal, within the limits of the Camiño privilexiado, that linked the Couto Mixto to that village. In these spatiality the boundary (established 1864) and the historical intense movement, of people and things, seem to be the first impetus for the research work carried out mainly in history, we intend to analyze the process of transformation and / or reconfiguration of socio-territorial from the 1960's, during which intensifies the flow of migration of local people. In this context, we focus on the role that the house occupies within those processes, and more, we hypothesized the centrality of the House in the village social organization, as well as in private families. To this end, we propose an ethnographic study of the current context, along with the activation of a social memory through the family history. Our hypothesis is still walking into a house design that goes beyond their physical limits. We're talking about a house that is beyond the materiality of real estate assets, a long historical process involving other issues that are moral obligations that are communal work among neighbors, networks of reciprocal relationships, etc.. All this, not only giving support to the House as to the existence of the village. In this context, we are still aware of processes, categorized by some authors as deruralization. For this research, this perspective is questioned because, in our view it is generalized and can cover up settings and socio-territorial reconfigurations can take on a symbolic universe that is when House and Village.
