Abstract

Territorial development plans seek to strengthen and expand long-chain markets. However, experiences in the practiced territories indicate alternatives to this model. The objective of this project is to develop auxiliary instruments for planning and territorial management based on a methodology that can operationalize cartography that describes the establishment of a local food system on the triple border between the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The confluence of these geographic areas provides challenges and opportunities for regional planning. The project focuses on exploring new territorial representations through quali-quantitative methodologies, with the use of remote sensing, spatial analysis techniques, exploration of new databases and fieldwork, which can (1) identify potential areas of agri-food production related to peasant way of production and (2) analyze the mobility infrastructure associated with the circulation of people and goods in the areas identified in (1) based on accessibility metrics. The methodology in (1) integrates land use and cover data, Demographic and Agricultural Census, Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) properties and data collected through the Voluntary Geographic Information platform (Silo/CaipiratechLab). For the analysis in (2), the base data will be a mobility typology applied to the OpenStreetMap (OSM) database, and thus classical accessibility metrics and complex networks will be obtained. The results will be compiled in a geographic database and made available in an open repository to serve as support for strengthening this local food system at different governance scales.
